So Germany luvs me. Undressing Mercy was released in Germany in July of last year and I’m very pleased to announce that Barenaked Jane will also be going to Germany!
To the left is the cover for Undressing Mercy– Translated- the German title is “Gallery of Passions”.
I’m not sure when Barenaked Jane will see print there… but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing the cover 
.
It’s both exciting and sort of scary to see my work moved into another language- especially a language that I do not speak. I mean, I have literally no clue how different the German version is compared to the English version but I do hope that my German readers really enjoy Gallery of Passions and that they are looking forward to book two!

I will just have to get my hands on it in both languages and give you a thoughtful comparison. (And possibly relearn some of my more risque German Vocabulary!)

Only Germans can take a word like passions and make it into Leidenschaft.
The only German I remember is the naughty stuff, how to order a beer, ask where the bathroom is, and introduce myself.

All right, popping in late here , but I couldn’t resist adding my two cents as I am a German native speaker. Leidenschaft means literally “to cause suffering/trouble/distress”. I am no linguist, but I bet it has some prudish, historical background as in “passion which is so overwhelming that it overpowers the pleasure part and results in sufferings” LOL. German publishers ADORE titles with passion, wind, storm, waves, love and tides … everything that implies great, ergg, passion, and remembers of overflowing, trembling bosoms and superlatives of sensuality … (at least where romances are concerned).
Secondly, it’s been ages since I have read English fiction translated into German, but I wanted to add that Rowohlt is considered to be a very classy, distinctive publisher, specialising on literature and high quality fiction!
AS to the naughty vocabulary. Let me put it this way, the translation of c**t is absolutely atrocious, much much worse in connotation than its English counterpart. The rest is ok and comparable to English.
And last but not least, do you plan any sequels to The Penetration Diaries? I don’t usually like chick lit, but this was the first one I graded with an A-

Very cool! Wait– my book translates to “Gallery of Distressing”? LOL. I rarely use the word cunt but when I do I totally OWN that nasty little word… every single letter.
I actually have a sequel half finished for the Penetration Diary but I’m on the fence about it as chicklit really isn’t my “thing” at all and I never even really understood where the first book came from- it just sort of poured out of me in weird moments.
